World Fair Trade Day 2026 Celebration
Jakarta, 3 June 2026 – The Forum Fair Trade Indonesia (FFTI) and Mercu Buana University collaborated to celebrated World Fair Trade Day 2026 at Mercu Buana University, Jakarta. The event brought together representatives from universities, government institutions, fair trade organizations, businesses, SMEs, and community groups to promote fair trade, community empowerment, and sustainable business development.
The seminar opened with remarks from Netty Febriana, Chairperson of FFTI, who highlighted the importance of fair trade in building a sustainable economy. The opening session also featured messages from Sophie Tack, President of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), and Dr. Irmulansati Tomohardjo, Vice Rector of Mercu Buana University.

The seminar included presentations from speakers representing FFTI, WFTO Asia, government institutions, universities, fair trade certification bodies, retailers, and impact investment organizations. Discussions covered fair trade practices, sustainable business growth, market opportunities, green financing, and the role of responsible investment in supporting sustainable enterprises.
Participants explored how fair trade can improve livelihoods for producers, SMEs, cooperatives, social enterprises, and local communities. The discussions also highlighted opportunities for Indonesian products to reach global markets while maintaining strong social and environmental values.
As part of the celebration, a Fair Trade Mini Bazaar showcased products from SMEs and community enterprises, includi
ng handicrafts, fashion, accessories, processed food products, and environmentally friendly goods. The bazaar provided visitors with an opportunity to discover products that reflect fair trade values and sustainable production practices.
The event also featured interactive workshops, including a creative cassava cooking demonstration and tasting session, followed by a traditional wooden mask painting workshop. These activities offered participants a hands-on experience while promoting local creativity and cultural heritage.
World Fair Trade Day 2026 served as a platform to strengthen collaboration among academia, government, businesses, and civil society. Through this event, FFTI hopes to increase awareness of fair trade, encourage support for sustainable local products, and contribute to building a more inclusive and equitable economy.
